Wedding FAQs

Q. When can I get married at Hatfield Farm?
A. We do weddings on any day of the week, depending on availability. The typical rental goes from 5pm to 12am, but depending on your budget, these hours can be extended.

Q. How does your pricing work?
A. Hatfield Farm offers a total package price that is dependent on the expected number of guests and any other additional services that you would like to include. It is not a per person rate. However, should you be given a package price based on a set number of guests, you will then be given a per person rate for any additional guests. If your guest list is less than you expected, the price will not be reduced, but additional services (eg. appetizers) will be offered in their place. Tax and gratuity will be added to your price. We only charge a 12% gratuity on your price before tax.

Q. What decorations are provided by Hatfield Farm?
A. Linen table cloths and napkins for the reception tables (which seat ten), candelabras with candles, mason jars or milk jars as vases for centerpieces, and an archway for the ceremony are provided by Hatfield Farm. There are also some artificial flowers that can be used, but otherwise the bride and groom must supply the flowers for the centerpieces and the ceremony.

Q. Do we need to help with the set-up and clean-up of the ceremony and/or reception?
A. No, this is all handled by staff at Hatfield Farm. If you have some special items to be included in the set-up (eg. flowers, favors, table wine, etc), you can bring them to the Farm 24 hours in advance and then the staff will include those items when setting up.

Q. Is Hatfield Farm handicap accessible?
A. Yes, all buildings have ramps and transportation around the Farm can be provided by car.

Q. What transportation is provided to and within Hatfield Farm?
A. Once guests arrive at the Farm, a horse drawn wagon will transport guests to the ceremony location. If it is raining, a sheltered wagon or bus will be used. Elderly guests and those with special needs can be transported to the ceremony location by car. The bridal party is transported to the ceremony site by horse drawn wagon, while the bride is transported by horse drawn carriage. A shuttle is available throughout the night to transport guests back to the front of the farm in case they require an early departure. Depending on your budget, we can also provide a bus to pick up and make two return trips to the Holiday Inn Express on Kearney Lake Road.

Q. Where does our ceremony take place?
A. Most weddings take place outside off the front deck of the lodge. However, this is completely up to you. You may decide that you would like to get married by the lake or in one of the fields. Guests typically stand for the ceremony (with the exception of elderly and special needs guests), but depending on your budget, benches can be provided. If it is raining, the ceremony will take place inside the lodge. The tables will be cleared from the immediate area and benches will be provided for the guests.

Q. Do the bride and groom need to provide a minister?
A. No, Hatfield Farm will provide a Justice of the Peace. However, if you do wish to have your own minister perform the service, some other service (eg. extra appetizers, etc) can be provided in place of the Justice of the Peace.

Q. What areas are available for pictures?
A. There are several locations for photos around the Farm. You can have your picture taken by one of the lakes, in and around the farm buildings, on the mechanical bull, or in the surrounding woods. The horse drawn carriage is provided for ½ hour after the ceremony for pictures. If it is raining on your wedding day, you may take pictures inside our many buildings, or you can leave to go to another location for pictures. The bride and groom are responsible for providing a photographer.

Q. Are plates, cutlery, glassware, and napkins provided by Hatfield Farm?
A. Yes - all plates, cutlery, glassware, and napkins are provided.

Q. Can we bring in our own food?
A. No, we must provide all the food for your event (except your wedding cake).
What food is typically provided? Guests typically have their choice of hip of beef, salmon, chicken or vegetarian lasagna. All choices are served with baked potato, vegetables, gravy, coleslaw, and bread. Dessert is also provided. Guests select their choice when they RSVP and these food orders should be submitted to us at least 14 days in advance of the wedding. Final guest numbers and meal choices need to be provided at least 7 days in advance. Depending on your budget, we can also provide appetizers and/or snacks (eg. vegetable trays, nachos, chips, wings, etc) throughout the night. If you’d like, we can arrange for you to sample the food in advance. The wedding cake is to be provided by the bride and groom, but staff will cut it and serve it if so desired.

Q. What drinks are provided by Hatfield Farm?
A. We provide guests with unlimited water, soft drinks, and coffee/tea. Depending on your budget, we can also include a punch or other beverages. Ice is provided by the Farm.

Q. Is alcohol allowed at Hatfield Farm?
A. Alcohol is not served at Hatfield Farm, but guests are welcome to bring their own. The bride and groom may also bring some alcohol to be shared with their guests during the night (this can be stored out back so that it is only accessed as needed). No glass bottles are allowed on the property, so all alcohol must be in cans, plastic, or cardboard containers. We do make an exception for table wine which may be provided by the bride and groom. We can also provide barrels of ice for the guests to keep their alcohol in throughout the evening.

Q. Will we need to provide a DJ?
A. No, a DJ will be provided by Hatfield Farm. Please feel free to bring your own music on cds (regular or mp3 format) or laptop. A sound system is set up throughout the property so that the music can be heard both inside and out. The DJ’s sound system can also be used for speeches during the

A hearty farmer’s breakfast is included in your stay. Please inquire about pricing. Please note that all overnight guests (including the bride and groom) must bring their own blankets and pillows. If 20 or more guests book to stay overnight, you and your guests will be the only ones at the Farm for the entire night, and the party (bonfires, music, etc) can go as late as you want.

Q. Is Hatfield Farm insured against accidents and theft?
A. Hatfield Farm is insured against accidents, but not theft. Due to the nature of some of the activities available at the Farm, all guests must sign awaiver upon arrival.

Q. What is the procedure for a typical wedding/reception?
A. Typically, guests arrive at around 6pm and are taken by horse drawn wagon to the ceremony location. Soon after, the bridal party is brought in by horse drawn wagon and then the bride comes in by horse drawn carriage. The ceremony lasts about 15 minutes. After the ceremony, the bridal party goes off for pictures, while the guests are free to visit the Rubber Rodeo. Once the bridal party returns, guests are seated in the lodge for supper. The bridal party is then introduced and seated, after which supper is served by Hafield Farm staff, starting with the head table and all elderly attendants followed by the remainder of your wedding guests. Speeches are given throughout or after supper. After the speeches, there is the ‘first dance’ and/or cake cutting. Once all of this has taken place, the dance starts in the lodge, the Rubber Rodeo reopens, and the bonfires are lit outside. Of course, all of this can be adjusted to meet your desires.

Q. What bathroom facilities are available?
A. The mens and womens bathrooms are located in a separate building than the lodge. Diaper change stations are also available within the bathrooms and showers.

Q. What other things are included in my wedding at Hatfield Farm?
A. Hatfield Farm’s Rubber Rodeo is available throughout the night for all wedding guests. This is a separate building from the lodge, which offers activities such as a mechanical bull, a gladiator game, a children’s bounce gym, etc. A mini-golf course is located outside the Rubber Rodeo. Hatfield Farm also has fire pits that are surrounded by seating for over one hundred people. These fire pits will be lit and cared for by staff throughout the night. Fireplaces within the lodge are also lit and cared for by staff. We offer a wishing well and registry barrel for cards and cash donations, and will also store and pack any other wedding gifts you receive throughout the night.
